Piano Concerto G Minor Op. 33
SKU: 51483215
Written in one fell swoop and polished for ages: thus arose one of the most significant works of Czech piano music. Dvorák's G-minor Piano Concerto was composed in barely two months in 1876 only to be refined for more than seven years before it finally appeared in print. As a result, Dvorák's handwritten score abounds in changes and corrections. The 141-page autograph bears impressive witness to the work's extraordinarily difficult gestation. Besides the original text, it contains annotations in lead, red and blue pencil as well as red ink, not to mention many passages hidden beneath pasted slips of paper. Until 1990 the score was owned by Dvorák's heirs. At the instigation of the pianist Andrés Schiff – and with his generous financial support – we can now present the first complete facsimile edition of this exhilarating document in a high-quality reproduction that uncannily resembles the original to the last jot. Readers are invited to track down and follow the stages in the work's genesis.

Piano Concerto in A Major K488
SKU: 51483216
Mozart's Piano Concerto is one of his most played works. The autograph score is very well preserved and beautifully written. Mozart wrote hurriedly but always clearly, occasionally making corrections; and towards the end the writing becomes increasingly fleeting. Thanks to this high quality facsimile edition we are almost able to peer over his shoulder into the score. The publisher produced his first edition using this autograph score. It came into the possession of the collector Charles Malherbe, who in turn bequeathed it to the Paris conservatory. Today it is one of the treasures in the Grande Rserve held in the music department at the French National Library in Paris. The pianist and conductor Andrés Schiff prompted us to produce this facsimile, substantially contributing to its publication (which is why it can be offered at an attractive price for Mozart's anniversary year in 2006). His preface bears witness to his great enthusiasm for this exceptional work and manuscript.

Waldszenen Op. 82 (Forest Scenes)
SKU: 51483217
Schumann's autograph of the Waldszenen affords us an unobstructed insight into the composer's working methods. It is namely not a final, fair version of the piano work but an autograph which bears numerous traces of the composition's development, enabling us to reconstruct the work's genesis. In the end the manuscript, which is always legible and beautifully written despite crossings out, changes and insertions, was even considered suitable to be used as the model for the engraving by the original publisher. Thus as well as Schumann's numerous comments there are also notes made by the engraver. The French collector Charles Malherbe once owned the 16-page autograph, which is now in the music department of the French National Library. Schumann is within our reach in this facsimile reproduction, which truly does look extremely similar to the original, with comprehensive comments by the Canadian Schumann expert Margit L. McCorkle.
